  <p>In the summer of 1988, tensions simmering for decades finally ignite. Under the cover of pre-dawn darkness, 
  Soviet and Warsaw Pact forces surge across the inner German border, launching a full-scale invasion through 
  the Fulda Gap. For months, signs of a shift had been visible; escalating rhetoric, unusual troop movements, a 
  hardening of positions. However, few believed the Kremlin would truly abandon the uneasy balance that had held 
  since World War II. It was only when the tanks started rolling west that it became clear. The Soviet Union had 
  finally crossed its Rubicon. The battle for Europe had begun.</p><p>
  NATO forces, stretched thin and caught in partial readiness, are thrown into a desperate defence. From bases 
  across West Germany, multi-national air assets scramble to blunt the assault. In the skies over Central Europe, 
  control is fleeting, and the cost of failure is all too high.</p>
